Enterprise Community Foundation
PSD provides the Cost Comparison Analysis that determines the energy and water savings benefits from meeting the Enterprise Community Partners Green Communities criteria. The analysis compares the costs of Green Communities developments to similar local non-green developments. This project has provided PSD with a national database of comparing the effectiveness of green improvements for affordable housing. This comparison uses whole building energy simulation and water usage to show savings and then tracks the actual performance relative to predicted performance. Carbon savings from this project are being sold via events such as the US Green Building Council GreenBuild Expo. This process is now being transferred to the Compass database platform and expanding to existing buildings.
Software
Green Energy Compass is designed to provide a detailed view of a building's energy usage. Meter data is analyzed, and a score from EPA's Home Energy Yardstick is generated and stored. Powerful reporting can reveal behavioral changes that identify energy savings opportunities.
Green Energy Surveyor provides rapid on-site residential energy simulation and savings prediction. With a more detailed look at the types of consumption equipment in the home, recommendations for improvements to save energy are generated instantly as information is entered. Green Energy Surveyor is integrated with an online tracking system that can monitor project savings and results over time.
Programs
Support for City of New York
Performance Systems Development is working with the City of New York to install and implement Building Performance Compass. This benchmarking and tracking software will enable the city to offer energy reduction incentive programs for high-rise buildings within the city, and provides powerful peer comparison capability. Multi-use buildings are tracked and reported on both an individual-space and whole-building basis.
Training
USGBC GreenBuild Conference Support
Performance Systems Academy is collaborating with a team at USGBC to develop training materials for the 2009 GreenBuild Conference.
