American Infrared (Thermal Star Building Analyst Institute), in Tucson, AZ, began as an equipment distributor, with a defined niche: selling infrared imagers and other energy auditing supplies. In keeping ahead of the curve, American Infrared saw the importance of the whole house diagnostic approach, and the value of BPI certification. They partnered with Performance Systems Academy and acquired the tools to effectively deliver building science training in their community.
Training
In June of 2009, American Infrared became the first site on PSA's national Train-the-Trainer Tour. A PSA instructor spent a week preparing their staff and members of the local workforce for BPI Building Analyst certification. American Infrared then continued with the Train-the-Trainer program.
Curriculum
American Infrared licensed PSA's proprietary BPI-approved curriculum, and began delivering the training under the name Thermal Star Building Analyst Institute in September 2009.
